17th Century and Earlier  Hats

When choosing a hat for your impression, there are many things to take into consideration, such as geography, socioeconomic status, military or nonmilitary, trim, and the fact that different countries often liked to copy each other’s styles. There were also times when men and women wore similar headwear. Since these hats are all hand done, it may be better to speak with Bill directly about your impression.

The first grouping of pictures shows some of the numerous variations found in the earlier time periods.  As these are almost all custom, use them as a guide in designing your piece.  We would be more than happy to talk to you about commissioning your own "personal historical statement!"

This second grouping are some of our stock 17th century hats.  Please remember that we are willing to undertake just about any historical piece of headgear that interests you!
